1/4 13 June 2021, Iraq, Al-Humaydat: Human remains lie on the ground after being exhumed by members of expert teams during the opening of a mass grave of victims who were killed and buried by the so-called Islamic State (IS) terror group back in 2014. More than 500 people, predominantly Shia Muslims, where executed and buried in the mass grave during an IS attack on the Badush Prison on 10 June 2014. The mass grave, which was first discovered in 2017, is located in the village of Al-Humaydat, 30 km west of the city of Mosul, a former IS stronghold in Iraq's northern Nineveh Governorate.
