Viktor Orban commented on this on social media:
Before the European liberal-mainstream chorus once again starts chanting ‘Putin’s puppet’, I would like to share why I could not support the statement on behalf of Hungary,
the prime minister added.
PM Orban highlighted:
1. The statement seeks to set conditions for a negotiation to which the EU leaders were not even invited.
2. It is sad enough that the EU has been sidelined. The only thing worse would be if we were handing out instructions from the bench.
3. The only reasonable move for the EU leadership would be to follow the example of the US-Russia meeting and initiate the convening of an EU-Russia summit.
