It is well known that almost the whole property of the trade unions has been obtained by the Arago group closely attached to the Hungarian Socialist Party. According to a document in the possession of Magyar Nemzet Ferenc Gyurcsány appeared on January 29, 1993 on the business conference held about the privatization of the resort complex. He introduced himself as an adviser of the Prime Minister’s Office though he produced cards showing his company’s logo, that of Altus Holding. The local association for protecting the interests of Balatonaliga recommended then not to privatize the whole complex which includes 1,5 km of the shores of Balaton but open it for the public. The document signed then also by Ferenc Gyurcsány supported this option stating meanwhile that the value of the complex would be reduced by HUF 600-800 million because of this step. The fight of the local self-government seems aborted because the Treasury has announced a tender recently for the whole complex though a section of the beach would be maintained for holiday makers. So far three bids have arrived, the documentation of the tender was sold for HUF half a million.
