The social policy platform of the Hungarian Socialist Party expects Viktor Orbán and Fidesz not to monopolize later the result of the referendum on Sunday because many left-wing citizens will also vote with ’yea’ – said József Sipos, one of the members of the governing committee to Magyar Nemzet. The platform previously called on Premier Gyurcsány to stop the negative campaign of the government against dual citizenship and urge people instead to listen to their conscience in the question. The statement has been supported by József Alajos Géczi and Ferenc Kósa MPs, too. Mr Sipos said the present Socialist Party bears the adjective ’Hungarian’, too and the new programme of the party is Hungarian and social democratic but so far the party has omitted the national aspect of the ideology. The members of the platform have been labelled as ’Fidesz agents’ while Ferenc Kósa told at the conference of the platform this weekend that a 5 pc party blocked the Hungarian Socialists. ’The extreme liberals can permit themselves to represent 5 pc of the voters but the Socialist should represent almost 50 pc’, Mr Kósa said.
