Though in both questions the ’yea’ votes were in majority, the referendum was not decisive as positive answers have not reached 2 million in both cases. According to data published at 9.00 p.m. yesterday 37,29 pc of all voters went to the ballots and 65,07 of them voted with ’yea’ on stopping the privatization of hospitals while 51,5 of them would give dual citizenship for Hungarians abroad.
For a valid referendum there should have been 25 pc of all 8 million electoral votes plus one identical so the parliament is not obliged to follow the intentions of the referendum which has been carried out without any major incidents.
