There is still no official operator of the Time Wheel, erected to commemorate the EU accession on Heroes’ square. The Time Wheel has stopped and it is being repaired. The construction will cost HUF 216 million from the taxpayers’ money though its future is not clear. There has been altogether 300 million forints offered by the state and Hungarian Tourism Company has paid so far 216 million.
The idea of the Wheel has been created by János Herner, chairman of Chronos Foundation who claims there is state subsidy necessary in the future, too while in the Prime Minister’s Office there is a plan that the owner and operator of the symbolic construction will be the State Treasury.
