Earlier Wekler had been the chief opponent to such an investment which is now planned to be built at Bátaapáti. The MP said to Magyar Nemzet his task would be to help in placing nuclear waste in Hungary. At Bátaapáti back in the ’eighties they tried to build such a plant but the protest of the village stopped the plan. Wekler himself, as president of the council of Mecseknádasd, owes his career to this as he led the protest. There are other plans now to place nuclear waste: one of these is to dump it in the uranium mines near Pécs.
