WHEAT BURNER IN THE FIELDS

Even the Minister of Agriculture opposes József Karsai’s appointment.

Prime Minister Ferenc Gyurcsány has appointed József Karsai commissioner responsible for the social land programme. József Karsai MP (Socialist Party) has become notorious for his former action of burning wheat in the fields. The Minister of Agriculture disagrees with the decision. As a commissioner József Karsai can have an overall view of Hungarian land purchases and leaseholds. József Gráf, Minister of Agriculture has expressed his opinion in a letter written to György Szilvásy, titular state secretary of the Prime Minister’s Office. Mr Karsai has been amply rewarded for his former services by the Socialist government. The minister also expressed his doubts about Karsai’s illegal actions to obtain access to data which were confidential.
