HERÉNYI EARNS BEST

Members of Parliament hope to receive by 4 pc more after closing the budget debate. Károly Herényi, faction leader of the Hungarian Democratic Forum earns best, his salary can be more than a monthly gross HUF 750 000.

At the moment there are blank parts in the budget bill referring to the salary of civil servants. Now the basic salary is HUF 33 000, and the MPs receive a sum six times the basic salary. But MPs earn much more as a committee membership raises it by 40 pc and several MPs are members of several committees while faction leaders receive plus 120 pc of the basic salary.

According to the statistics Károly Herényi earns best in the Hungarian parliament. Mr Herényi has no university degree, he was elected on Monday to chair the committee of constitution and jurisdiction instead of István Balsai, former Minister of Justice in the Antall government.
