''LEX JÁRAI'' IN PREPARATION

In spite of the increasing protests in Hungary and abroad the bill of amending the Central Bank law has been approved by the budget committee of the parliament though it turned out yesterday that the bill was unconstitutional.

The Hungarian Central Bank wishes to appeal to the international forums to prevent the amendment. The preparation itself violated the law which prescribes a previous consultation with the Cenral Bank. The essence of the bill is that the chief decision making organ of the bank, the monetary council should have 11 members instead of 9 and the government would be in a better position to delegate its candidates. The representative of the Ministry of Finance, István Göndör claims the bill has been prepared strictly on professional grounds.
