More than two months after the celebrations of August 20 no one knows what companies and for how much participated in the organization of the events – in spite of the government promises. The Prime Minister’s Office responsible for the central programmes had requested earlier 60 days for settling the detailed accounts but after the deadline they just confirmed the preliminary information that it was Hungexpo Company that could spend the HUF 140 million necessary for the celebrations. The Prime Minister’s Office directed Magyar Nemzet for details to Mafilm Company, responsible for the accounts of subcontractors but Tamás Tolmár, general director of Mafilm Company yesterday refused to give any information in spite of his earlier promises while Edit Rózsa, programme organizer of Hungexpo Company has not been available by telephone. It is to be remembered that during the Orbán government the Socialists (then in opposition) urged detailed accounts about the August 20 celebrations and István Stumpf, Minister of the Chancellery gave it every time. Happy End Ltd was also the target of attacks, organizing 20 pc of national celebrations winning a public acquisition tender.
