GRAVE LACK OF BLOOD IN HUNGARY

There is a serious lack of blood in Hungary and scheduled operations have been prolonged because of this, though life-saving operations have been performed normally. The Ministry of Health suspects surgeons ’waste’ blood. The prolongation of operations causes a feeling of insecurity in patients and usually there is a longer treatment in hospital because of the delay. Iván Golub, president of the Hungarian Union of Hospitals refused the accusation of ’wasting’ blood for transfusions. ’There are strict rules for applying blood transfusion and every surgeon is aware of the great value of blood’, he added.
