There is a contradiction between Gyurcsány’s financial manoeuvre and his statements. Premier Gyurcsány would not comment the financial manoeuvres of Altus Luxembourg S.A.H., an off-shore company which facilitated for him that he could obtain the profit of his other companies in Hungary tax-free between 1998 and 2001.

In spite of this the Premier now demands social justice and a greater responsibility to be undertaken by the well-off. Péter Szijjártó MP (Fidesz) said the Premier should make clear his financial position. The opposition had demanded in vain from the Prime Minister to publish the contracts between the state and his companies. Altus Luxembourg S.A.H three days after its registration bought more than 40 pc of Motim Company, in 2001 it bought 91,2 pc of Aldo Ltd and the majority shares of Perfekt Company, the latter from Altus Company owned by Mr Gyurcsány. After the liquidation of Altus Luxembourg at the end of 2001 its property went to its 100 pc owner, Altus Company. The firm in Luxembourg was probably founded to pump over the profits made in Hungary by an exchange of shares.
