This might even be an anniversary but it is just the 75th breakdown of the Czech nuclear power station in Temerin, started four years ago. While people living in the region are afraid of a disaster and the Greens demand a greater safety and the use of other sources of energy, the Czech officials claim there is no danger at all, and the Hungarian National Atomic Energy Office shares this view. This morning the 2nd block of the nuclear power station will be restarted. It was stopped on last Saturday because of the failure of the cooling system of a generator. The spokesman of the power station said the 1st block was operating without any fault. It does not seem probable that the concerns of the Greens have been dissolved by this statement. The Greens in Czechia and in the neighbouring countries keep referring to the dangers of the Russian technology and urge the use of alternative sources of energy. Last year the failures caused the power station a 4,5 billion crown damage though in all the profit made in 2004 was 75 billion crowns.
