GYURCSÁNY REGARDED AS ENEMY OF SLOVAKIA

It is in the focus of interest of Slovakian internal politics that Prime Minister Ferenc Gyurcsány said the autonomy efforts of Hungarians beyond the borders should be supported.

Ex-Premier Vladimir Meciar said Ferenc Gyurcsány by this declaration had interfered in the internal affairs of Slovakia. The opposition politician said this demand was not acceptable for Slovakia because it endangered the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the country.

Pavol Hrusovsky, chairman of the Christian Democratic Movement said the Hungarian Premier’s statement was not expected while Dusan Caplovic, deputy chairman of the left-wing Smer held out the prospect of organizing a debate in parliament to make it clear that any territorial autonomy based on ethnicity is not acceptable in Slovakia.
