OPPOSITION AND GUILLOTINE

In a radio programme bought from half a million forints of the taxpayers’ money Lajos Mátyás Szabó, mayor of the XVI. District, Budapest, made a very curious joke concerning his opposition representatives, Ervin Csomor, local Fidesz faction leader reported to Magyar Nemzet.

The mayor said he had visited a conference of the union of self-governments in France and in a museum they showed him a guillotine which he liked and found handy. This joke could be heard on May 30 in a humorous programme of the Hungarian (public) Radio. The mayor who is now in Croatia said his letter of apology would be read out in another humorous programme today. The self-government of the district had supported the programme by HUF half a million to have the mayor appear in the public radio.
