Yesterday in Gdansk they commemorated the foundation of the Polish Solidarity movement a quarter of a century ago. Several European leaders attended the meeting, Hungary was represented by President László Sólyom. In his address he said even in our everyday life it was not permissible to give up our faith in the values of freedom and human dignity.
After the conference Premier Sólyom held consultations with his Ukrainian counterpart and invited Premier Yushchenko for a visit in Hungary. The Ukrainian Premier will be accompanied by the leaders of the Sub-Carpathian Hungarian minority, too. The conference was closed with a gala evening remembering the events which led to the fall of Communism.
