SCHÖNTHAL GIVES HIMSELF UP

The businessman suspected of money laundering will be defended by Péter Bárándy, former Minister of Justice.

After hiding for more than a year Henrik Schönthal has given himself up to the police. Schönthal is suspected to have taken part in laundering billions of forints coming from the series of frauds at K&H Equities. He will be defended by former Minister of Justice, Péter Bárándy, who had delayed for months the order to issue an international warrant for Schönthal’s arrest.

Henrik Schönthal was arrested in Ferihegy Airport yesterday by the public prosecutors of the Metropolitan Public Prosecutor’s Office and by detectives of the National Bureau of Investigation who have interrogated the businessman. Schönthal has come from Florida and as he has American citizenship, too, he could leave the United States.
