FRIDERIKUSZ LOST SUIT, MUST PAY HUF HALF A BILLION

Yesterday the Metropolitan High Court of Appeal obliged Sándor Friderikusz to pay almost HUF half a billion, including interests and court costs.

According to the verdict the television anchor bears liability for damages caused to RTL Klub by not giving in time a part of a talkshow series called ’Meglepő és mulatságos’. This is the highest sum ever paid in damages in Hungary in the cultural field. The series consisting of 18 parts was contracted with RTL Klub back in 1998, one of the episodes, however, was withdrawn by the anchor so the rest of the parts was not broadcast. In April 2002 the Supreme Court established the anchor’s liability for damages, partly caused by the loss of planned or contracted advertisements.
