Prime Minister Péter Medgyessy had asked János Erős, president of the Hungarian Development Bank to have talks with his dissatisfied ministers and Socialist politicians while he would spend his summer holiday. This news published by the internet portal Index has been only partly refuted by János Erős. The ministers started to revolt against the budget restrictions during the Premier’s holiday in Mallorca and two of them wanted to resign. According to Index it was János Erős who mediated between the ministers and the Premier in the latter’s absence – there is an old friendship between the banker and the Premier. Mr Erős celebrated the election victory in the headquarters of the Hungarian Socialist Party in the company of the Premier and Ron Werber, the Israeli campaign leader. The confidence in Erős is said to be due to the influence of Medgyessy’s wife, Katalin Csaplár: they are common owners of a company to organize hunts. Beside Erős Ferenc Baja can be the other adviser in transforming the cabinet. The political state secretary of the Prime Minister’s office has been in daily contact with the Premier and he is said to be the chief adversary of Ferenc Gyurcsány.
