HEALTH CARE: SEVERAL BILLION FORINTS BLOCKED

Several billion forints have been blocked by the Ministry of Health from the expenditure of hospitals, ambulance, blood supply, State Public Health Office, and other health institutions for this year. ’The economic processes make it necessary to reduce the costs of state institutions and reschedule the payment of bills’, writes Endre Pordán, administrative state secretary of the ministry in a letter dated November 4. This does not mean the cancelling of contracts but it is necessary to avoid payments not due before the end of the year. The sums to be blocked range from HUF 100 million to HUF 1 billion.
