For the time being the Hungarian Socialist Party has no candidate for presidency, this will be decided about only after the congress of the party in spring, István Hiller, chairman said yesterday. Yesterday Magyar Nemzet gave the information that Ferenc Gyurcsány wanted Kinga Göncz to be nominated for presidency, with the approval of the Free Democrats. Gábor Horn, member of the governing committee called the information a hoax and said they would name their candidates only in spring. Informed sources say, however, that the name of István Szabó, film director, and that of Péter Bárándy, former Minister of Justice have been also mentioned as possible candidates for the post of the President of the Republic. Fidesz will not nominate a candidate of their own but they exclude the oiption of accepting a party politician.
