HEAD OF PAKS NUCLEAR POWER STATION KICKED UPSTAIRS

István Kocsis, director general of Paks nuclear power station has been elected to become the leader of Hungarian Electricity Works.

His successor in the power station can be József Kovács operational manager, József Szabó, Socialist MP or László Varga- Sabján, manager of human policy who has also good connections with the Socialist Party. According to Fidesz István Kocsis has been kicked upstairs out of communist solidarity. The assembly of the Hungarian Electricity Works convened on December 23 elected Mr Kocsis, candidate of the majority owner of the company, State Privatization Company. The assembly of Paks Nuclear Power Station will meet on January 12. Tamás Koltai MP (Fidesz) said it was difficult to accept that István Kocsis had not been made responsible for the HUF several billion damage caused by the serious breakdown in the power station last year and now becoming head of the Electricity Works he would be his own boss. ’This procedure reminds one of the bad old times when the comrades out of solidarity kicked someone upstairs instead of punishing him’, he added.
