SPEAKER KATALIN SZILI BOOED AND HISSED IN KASSA

Katalin Szili, Speaker of the Hungarian Parliament (Hungarian Socialist Party) was booed and hissed in Kassa on Saturday.

She took part in the celebration of unveiling the statue of Sándor Márai, writer, who was born in Kassa (now Kosice, Slovakia). There were about one thousand people there and several demonstrators held banners criticizing the negative attitude of the Socialists in the recent referendum about the dual citizenship of Hungarians beyond the borders. There was a minor incident in front of the Hungarian consulate in Kassa, too. The citizens of Kassa have issued a statement criticizing the Socialists who deceived the voters by false predictions and threats.
