There is a contradiction between the report of the European Commission on Hungary and the comments of the Ministry of Finance. The contradiction refers to a sum of HUF 100 billion. Though the Brussels report calls on the Hungarian government to reduce the deficit by half a percent this year, Tibor Draskovics, Minister of Finance says the body has not suggested any reduction. According to the EU commission to achieve the deficit target of 3,8 pc for this year it is necessary to introduce restrictions because the macroeconomic output might be weaker than planned. Mr Draskovics said these were just suggestions handled as such by the government.
