Two Free Democrat members of the committee dispute Lajos Nagy’s statement. Ferenc Kőszeg, chairman of the Helsinki Committee in Hungary said Lajos Nagy was a liar. In Hetek, a weekly close to Hit Gyülekezete (’Congregation of Faith’) Lajos Nagy in an interview claimed the committee was ’full’ of people who had been in connection with the state security services and the loudest anti-Communist was the most faithful of the former agents. Since May 1990 the national security committee of the first freely elected parliament was chaired by Gábor Demszky until he was elected Mayor of Budapest and there were members in the committee like Gábor Fodor, Imre Mécs, Ferenc Kőszeg, Zoltán Gál (Hungarian Socialist Party). László Kövér (Fidesz), chairman of the national security committee now – who had been the member of this committee from December 1990 before becoming its chairman – earlier commented Lajos Nagy’s views simply calling him ’the shame of his professsion’.
