A company closely attached to the Socialists organizes a gala evening in Szigligeti Theatre, Nagyvárad (Oradea) ’in honour’ of Hungarians beyond the border at the end of April. The National Media Authority (ORTT) supports the programme with nearly HUF 20 million from the taxpayers’ money. József Sipos, one of the members of Eurofilm Ltd was campaign chief of István Ujhelyi, vice chairman of the Hungarian Socialist Party and the Prime Minister’s commissioner for youth policy. The company was founded last July with a capital of HUF 3 million and it wishes to make the disillusionment to be ’forgotten’ caused by the failure of the dual citizenship referendum last December. The programme of the gala includes works of famous Hungarian authors recited by well-known actors and the appearance of a world star is also expected for a fee of HUF 7 million. There will be also a panel discussion the subject of which is ’the improvement of the contacts between Hungary and Hungarians beyond the border supported by the media’. According to documents in the possession of Magyar Nemzet the budget of the programme is HUF 27 million.
