SUPPORT OF BILLIONS

EU-money for a college led by a Socialist MP Károly Róbert College in Gyöngyös has won the highest subsidy for infrastructure development among all colleges, while it is second among all universities.

The rector of the college is Sándor Magda MP, Socialist vice chairman of the agricultural committee of the parliament. In all HUF 12,2 billion EU subsidies have been distributed among academic institutions according to the human resource operative programme, and ten pc of it, HUF 1,3 billion has been received by the college led by Sándor Magda MP. The University of Debrecen has received more than that: HUF 1,36 billion while Szent István University got only HUF 702 million, Károli Gáspár Reformed University received a mere HUF 233 million for infrastructure development. Sándor Magda has also received a certificate of merit signed by Premier Gyurcsány and Bálint Magyar, Minister of Education, congratulating on the successful bid. The college started to work in September 2003 and since 2004 it has had two faculties, those of agriculture and management. The college has more than 18 000 students but it has only 2270 regular students.
