The Radioactive Waste Management Public Utility Company using the sources of the state-owned Nuclear Energy Plant of Paks has concluded a contract again to make research work at Bátaapáti to dump small and medium activity nuclear waste.
The work has to be finished until 2008 by Bátatom Ltd which is owned in majority by Mecsekérc Company. The company is going to be privatized according to the business plan of the State Property Management so the future buyer can count on a several ten billion forint state commission. Tamás Koltai MP (Fidesz) criticizes the contract claiming that the real market value of the company is kept in secret and demands to stop the privatization process.
