Hungary would like to close the negotiations with Slovakia in the case of the Bős (Gabcikovo)-Nagymaros hydroelectric power station. The final approval of the agreement can be delayed by the forthcoming elections in both countries. Gábor Bartus, one of the members of the delegation said to Magyar Nemzet it was expected to come to terms with the Slovakian partners early next year. The building of the power plant cost Slovakia 70 pc of the total expenses while Hungary had a share of 30 pc. This can refer to the proportion of electric power distributed to the two countries. The international Court of Justice in Hague in 1997 ruled that the two countries had to negotiate about the final solution but until this time there has been no agreement. Hungary has had serious problems with the water supply of the Danube withheld by the Slovaks which has caused the environmental disaster of Szigetköz is Northern Hungary.
