Only next year can families receive HUF 5 000 as a single allowance to substitute former family protection benefits, Prime Minister Gyurcsány corrected himself yesterday in a radio interview. He said the press had misinterpreted his words in Parliament on Monday as he did not specify which August or September the allowance would be received. The government spokesperson expressed her opinion this was not a promise made on the account of the next government because the opposition seems to support the planned measure, too.
