VOIVODINA: HUNGARIAN SPEAKERS ASSAULTED

There was an ethnic-based incident again in Temerin, Serbia. On Saturday Serbian youngsters provoked some Hungarians who spoke in Hungarian to one another.

The police arraigned the participants of the fight and the attacking persons were detained. Eva Maria Barki, an international lawyer in Vienna has sent an appeal to the leading organs and institutions of the European Union and the Council of Europe signed by several people asking the leaders of these institutions to protect the civil rights of Hungarians beyond the borders, which rights have been mainly violated in Serbia and in Transylvania.
