Fidesz has called on Premier Gyurcsány to start an investigation in the case of abuses by the police and relieve the Minister of the Interior from her post being responsible for the police excesses directed by party politics. Tamás Deutsch MP (Fidesz) said if Prime Minister Ferenc Gyurcsány did not comply with the request, he would initiate the convening of the parliamentary committee for security and the hearing of the Premier. Tamás Deutsch MP said in a press briefing they supported the appeal of the Association for Human Rights (TASZ). The NGO protested in a letter to the Premier against the police procedures in Makó in the case of Fidesz activists spreading leaflets. Mr Deutsch has also referred to the scandal of the New Left in Miskolc where a local Socialist leader said the police would not interfere in their night actions, recorded by a hidden camera. András Batiz government spokesman said the Premier did not wish to dismiss Ms Lamperth while István Nyakó, spokesman of the Hungarian Socialist Party said the police was obliged to investigate in all cases irrespective of the party involvements.
