“We now have the list of activist organizations funded from Brussels. I’d like to briefly share the story behind this,” Csaba Domotor, MEP of Fidesz, said in a social media post.
According to Domotor, the background of the story lies in the controversy that erupted surrounding the USAID program in the United States. The program, ostensibly established to provide aid, ended up financing thousands of liberal organizations to promote liberal political agendas globally. This is why the Trump administration suspended the program and halted its payments.
We saw a growing number of signs that a similar fund-distribution system had been established in Brussels,” Domotor said, explaining: "We were seeing an increasing number of activist groups operating on behalf of the Commission, lobbying members of the European Parliament (MEPs) to push amendments favorable to the Commission, weakening member states’ border protection capabilities, and even suing states that defend their borders. These groups increasingly organized political actions against democratically elected national governments, and to promote ideological agendas such as LGBTQ propaganda,
the Fidesz MEP stated.
He highlighted that a Guy Verhofstadt-affiliated organization, posing as an NGO, received as much as 15 million euros through various consortia, even though it had nothing to do with civil society.
That’s why we submitted nearly 90 public information requests to the European Commission and its background institutions. We asked a simple question: 'Will they finally send us the list of organizations that received support, the amounts, and the exact purpose of the funding?'
Domotor explained, giving more details in the video linked below.
