Ágnes Pászti, councillor of the self-government has made a unique proposal for a local edict to ban all political events in the vicinity of religius institutions. Ágnes Pászti is a politician of Centrum Party who admitted that her idea was based on Viktor Orbán’s rally at Dóm tér, in front of the famous cathedral of Szeged. Nándor Kohári, member of the Fidesz faction of the assembly said it was anti-constitutional to ban a meeting for such reasons as the law of assembly does not mention churches as exceptions. The Socialists, the Free Democrats, and representatives of Centrum Party have accepted the proposal so they will regulate the use of public places for political events. Ágnes Pászti was condemned two years ago for election fraud but no valid sentence has been passed so far in the case.
