DETERIORATING COMPETITIVENESS

Ten places back in the ranking list of countries within a year. According to the full list of ranking by World Economic Forum Hungary has slipped back from the 28th place in 2002 to the 38th in 2003 in business competitiveness.

This negative record achieved by Hungary is unparalleled though in every acceding Central European country there has been a similar trend. Analysers claim the results show that in Hungary the expenses of employment are higher though wages are lower that in Slovenia, Poland, or Czechia. It is World Economic Forum that organizes the annual summit talks in Davos but Hungary was not officially present at the summit in 2003.
