MP-S CAN SPEND DOUBLE MONEY

Within a year the money spent for the lodging of the members of parliament has been doubled, according to the the news programme of RTL Klub commercial television. In 2003 each representative could get annually a support of HUF 1 200 000 to rent a flat and they did not have to produce a bill.

Even MPs living in Budapest can have the support if they have been elected on a county list. According to the law 285 MPs can get the support but 7 of them did not require it. A representative who lives farther then 200 km from Budapest who is a member of two parliamentary committees, will receive a monthly total of HUF 348 000 plus HUF 415 000 to rent a flat and for expenses.
