Katalin Szili called Mrs Kósa’s anticlerical statement regrettable on Saturday in Mezőkövesd. Mrs Kósa, observer of the Hungarian Socialists in Brussels in an interview to Hetek, a weekly of the Congregation of Faith claimed that Vatican wanted to steal and annex the whole of Europe along with Brussels, and Prodi, and Strassbourg, with astonishing speed and aggressiveness.
Péter Szijjártó MP (Fidesz) has warned of the dangerous logics of the thought which led to catastrophical conclusions in the 20th century though anticlerical statements and actions are memorable even from the period of the Horn government, too. István Nyakó, spokesman of the Socialist said they had no intention to recall Mrs Kósa from the EP list and his party would not dissociate itself from Mrs Kósa’s views which referred to a long polemics in Brussels about the relationship of church and state.
