SOCIALIST OFFENSIVE FOR THE RED STAR

Edit Herczog MP (Hungarian Socialist Party) wants to examine the possibility of changing the law prohibiting the display of emblems of autocracy in order to legalize the Communist symbol. Mária Wittner said all people have been imprisoned who removed the red stars, emblems of Soviet occupation, in 1956.

Edit Herczog argued that the red star was not banned in any of the countries of the European Union and several other Socialist politicians signed the statement to defend Attila Vajnai, vice chairman of the Labour Party who was detained for displaying the red star. László Kövér MP (Fidesz) sees a connection between the claim and the aggressive EP campaign preparations of the Socialists led by Ron Werber. Mária Wittner, freedom fighter in 1956 said they did not want back either the red star or people in the shadow of the red star.
