THEY WANT TO GET RID OF SZÁSZ URGENTLY

Next week there will be another turn in the parliament to vote the package of bills already condemned by the Constitutional Court. If they accept the package there will be a chance to remove Károly Szász from his post as president of the State Supervision of Financial Institutions (PSZÁF). It is also possible that Katalin Szili, Speaker of the House proposes to announce the new law urgently.

Róbert Répássy MP (Fidesz), vice chairman of the constitutional committee said the new law could come into force within three weeks. The bill evades criticism by making it possible that Károly Szász and his vice-presidents may remain in their positions until the new organizations, the Supervising Council is formed. The bill contains the method of electing the head of the Council by the nomination of the Premier which indicates that he or she will be politically approved. The opposition sees the whole manoeuvre as serving the goal of emoving Károly Szász who had sparked off the K&H Equities scandal.
