800 KM MOTORWAY WAS A BLUFF

The promise of the present government parties in the 2002 election campaign to build 800 km motorway was a mere political bluff – this is the essence of the lecture held by Róbert Braun, dismissed undersecretary of the Prime Minister’s Office. Yesterday the Premier and the Mayor of Budapest promised new roads and a longer line for the 4th underground.

Róbert Braun in his lecture entitled ’Political communication’ in the conference ’Média Hungary’ has recognized that the idea to promise 800 km motorway arose during the election campaign bidding but the Ministry of Transport informed him that even if all machines had been working on building motorways in Hungary, there would have been built an annual 110 km at most. The undersecretary has also said that according to Premier Medgyessy’s American advisers the Prime Minister of the country could not take part in the morning talk shows of commercial televisions.
