TRADE UNIONS AFRAID OF LAY-OFF

The trade unions would not accept the plan that the government wants to finance tax cuts by dismissals in the public sphere.

Péter Kiss, Minister of the Chancellery said yesterday that all employees in the public sphere would get a 6 pc raise of salary but Endre Szabó, head of the Cooperative Forum of Trade Unions has made it clear they would not accept the plan of dismissals. Péter Kiss said there was no decision yet about the lay-off. Tibor Draskovics, Minister of Finance had also spoken previously about the necessity of dismissals in the public sphere.
