LÁSZLÓ KOVÁCS’S SEAT AS COMMISSIONER STILL SHAKY

As world papers had been tipping almost unanimously, the committee valueing the performance of designated commissioners did not give a green light to László Kovács at the fourth time, either.

The chairman of the committee, G.B. Chichester sent a letter to J.B. Fontenelles, Speaker of the European Parliament stating that Mr Kovács was unfortunately unable to convince most of the members of the committee about his knowledge and expertise in the field of energy affairs. The letter had a reference to the curious situation that László Kovács remained in position as Foreign Minister until the end of October in the new government, too. Some people in the committee still expressed their hope that the candidate would be able to cope with the task if he had enough time to learn his new job.
