The State Audit Office has declared that the account of the Hungarian Democratic Forum (MDF) about the years 2002 and 2003 violated the law and because of this they were not accepted. The Audit Office has reported grave problems in the accounting of the incomes and expenses of the party and Ibolya Dávid, chairperson of the party has been called on to publish the real data. The party had about HUF 240 million in 2002 but spent HUF 284 million and according to the registers of the party 154 local organizations out of 510 had not reported their incomes and expenses at all. In the 2003 account of the party there were more serious problems because the proportion of mistakes surpassed the 2 pc limit of probable errors as this was 3,9 pc though the party in both years commissioned an independent chartered accountant The cars owned by the party provided even more problems as there were no waybills or were filled in deficiently. Árpád Kovács, president of State Audit Office has called on Ibolya Dávid to make public repeatedly the corrected version of the party accounts of 2002 and 2003 and he has requested the government to modify the party law in order to solve the insufficiency of the regulation of party finances and accounts. The Audit Office did not accept the accounts of the Hungarian Democratic Forum for 2000 and 2001, either.
