PUBLIC INSTITUTIONS SUED

The disabled persons want to start a series of suits against public institutions because they did not made access to them unimpeded as it had been prescribed for them until January 2005.

’We do not want to paralyze state administration but we will start a targeted series of suits’, Lajos Hegedűs, chairman of the National Union of Associations of Disabled Persons said. The union makes a list of public institutions which cannot be entered unimpeded. The law of equal opportunities, passed in 1998 prescribes unimpeded access but it is clear the regulations cannot be kept though at least the most important public institutions should be made approachable for the disabled.
