Two thousand towns and villages have only road connections so the strike can paralyze the country. The trade union which represents 25 000 workers of Volán Transport Company wants to settle the measure of the rise of wages for this year. The employers offer 6 pc while the trade union want a 12 pc raise so there is little chance for an agreement. The employers claim that in the past two years there has been a 28 pc raise which surpassed the average raises while the drivers find their average gross monthly wage of HUF 142 500 well below the national average income of HUF 146 000 while drivers in other fields earn HUF 158 000.
