The proposal to close down four vocational secondary schools to be integrated with others will be discussed in its original form by the Metropolitan Assembly this week. The proposal was postponed a month ago. Then there was a demonstration of almost sixty teachers, students, and parents with banners. Now they expect a new wave of demonstrations during the two-day debate.
The trade union representing vocational education claims the plan is not reasonable because they teach future computer and informatic technicians, lathe operators and fitters who are highly wanted even at this moment in many fields. Last time at the discussion of the plan the opposition members of the assembly left the room to protest against the decision while the Socialist chairman of the educational committee explains the plan with the great reduction of the number of students.
