In case of a military conflict it is questionable that Hungary could even receive properly the NATO forces because of the present sate of the Hungarian army, a NATO report says.
The Ministry of Defence would not comment on the situation referring to state secrets but it claims the national support of the allied forces is in good shape. The confidential NATO report criticizes the reduction of the Hungarian military budget by HUF 100 billion and says the problems are caused by the lack of a separate military police in Hungary and in air transport Hungary is dependent on other countries. István Bocskai, spokesman of the Ministry of Defence said they had given a central database to NATO specifying the capablities of Hungary and the facilities to be taken if they wish to deploy their contingents in the country. Bocskai said the free movement of the allied forces was ensured by the police and recognized the informatic system necessary to it was still in the phase of planning.
