Yesterday the parliament started the work to amend the drug law but the necessary changes in penal law had not been submitted by the government though the work should be finished until May 31. Csaba Hende MP (Fidesz) said the government was late though the Constitutional Court had set up the deadline earlier.
Mr Hende, state secretary of the Ministry of Justice in the Orbán government said the amendment was necessary to make up for the deficiencies of the legal system causing problems for several decades. It was Csaba Hende who started the process of cancelling anti-constitutional paragraphs of the law. József Petrétei, Minister of Justice said yesterday it was necessary to formulate again the notion of drug abuse and to announce the list of forbidden drugs according to the international agreement along with the regulation of the cases of exemption.
