In exchange for Katalin Szili’s presidency the Hungarian Socialist Party will grant the position of Bálint Magyar as Minister of Education, Magyar Nemzet has been informed. The pact was probably concluded on Tuesday but the presidium of the Hungarian Socialist Party was not informed about the deal. The Socialist congress decided a month ago that the official candidate for presidency would be Katalin Szili, now Speaker of the Parliament. The Free Democrats, however, made it clear they would not support the candidacy of a party politician which might help the victory of an opposition candidate. The expectations have been frustrated recently when because of the blunders of the Ministry of Education a great scandal broke out in the course of GCE examinations. The presidium of the Socialist Party has been left in darkness because István Hiller, chairman of the party does not inform them about the secret pact.
